History

Wissmach Architects is a design-driven studio that thoughtfully responds to the unique conditions of each project by combining our signature collaborative design process with innovation and professional expertise. Located in Savannah, Georgia on the historic factor’s walk, Wissmach Architects uses the cultural and architectural heritage of the region as the foundation for forward-thinking, inspirational designs.

The firm was founded as Dawson Wissmach Architects in the spring of 1999 by Principals Neil Dawson and Richard K. Wissmach. After nine years of a successful partnership, the Principals parted ways in the fall of 2008 and Rick Wissmach became the leader of the firm, now named Wissmach Architects.

Our staff is made up of a diverse mix of people representing many cultures, experiences, and skills. Trained in both classical architecture and contemporary design, W.A. designers are committed to location-appropriate designs that have a memory of its cultural past.

Our firm maintains an attention to detail and a commitment to design quality that has earned them regional recognition, including the 2008 HGTV Dream Home and the inaugural 2008 HGTV Green Home. Our work has earned numerous AIA Design Awards and has been published in multiple books, including Leading Residential ArchitectsDream Homes of Georgia, and the Book Perspectives on Design.
